About the Role:
As a Corn Originator Intern at Primient, you will have a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the agribusiness sector.
Your primary role will be to assist with the procurement and marketing of corn, providing customer service, calculating bids, and grading grain.
You will also shadow experienced corn merchandisers to understand the trade strategies and market dynamics.
Responsibilities:
Shadowing Corn Merchandisers:
Observe and learn from our seasoned corn merchandisers to gain insights into commodity markets, pricing strategies, and risk management techniques.
Customer Service:
Assist with answering calls, addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining strong relationships with our corn producers and other clients.
Calculating Corn Bids:
Support the team in determining competitive corn bids based on market conditions, quality, and supply-demand factors.
Grading Grain:
Participate in the grain grading process, learning about quality control standards, grain inspection procedures, and the impact of grain quality on price and marketability.
Assisting with Daily Operations:
Participate in various tasks related to corn origination, including data entry, record keeping, and market research.
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business, or a related fieldStrong interest in agriculture, particularly grain/corn marketsExcellent communication and customer service skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to work independently and as part of a teamWhat We Offer:
This internship provides a comprehensive introduction to the corn origination business, offering real-world experience in a dynamic and growing industry.
You'll develop your understanding of commodities trading, enhance your customer service skills, and gain a deep understanding of the agricultural market.
This internship comes with a $3000 Housing/Travel stipend, and you will receive professional development through the 11-week program.
Must possess valid work authorization for the US.

ITEMS TO NOTEThis is a 40 hour per week/Full Time role.
This role is In Office - 5 days a week in our Decatur, IL OfficeThere is no guarantee of full-time placement at the conclusion of this internship.

Salary:
$19 per hour.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
